One of the priorities of Kingdom People is to be ‘renewed
and transformed by regular worship’. Bishop John has
appointed Michael Brierley, the Precentor at the Cathedral,
to serve as Diocesan Worship Adviser, assisting parishes
as they seek to make their worship joyful and liberating,
and accessible for those who might be drawn to it.
Michael came to the Diocese last year from an incumbency
in Devon, and said:
“Those of us who arrange or lead worship have an exciting
challenge: to facilitate something that goes deep enough
into God to change us, while also having easy ‘entry
points’ for those who may not be used to it. I’m looking forward to learning a lot from
the worship in the parishes of this diocese, how it meets attenders where they are, and
leads them to profound encounter with the living God.”
Please pray for the worship that is offered in the Diocese, that it might be inviting and
transformative, and for Michael as he encourages reflection in deaneries and parishes.
