Twelve candidates will ordained in Worcester Cathedral over the weekend to serve in
parishes across the Diocese.
Seven candidates will be ordained deacon today and will enter their first year of training
as a curate. A further five candidates have completed their first year and were ordained
priest yesterday. They are now able to preside at Holy Communion.
Bishop John presided at both ordinations, assisted by Bishop Graham, and the Rt Revd
Nigel Stock, Bishop at Lambeth, preached. The candidates came from a variety of different
backgrounds and will be serving their curacies in parishes throughout the diocese:
Ordained deacon:
• Rachel Akers to serve in Kidderminster East
• Josie Calam to serve in Areley Kings
• Allison Davies to serve at HolyTrinity, Redditch
• Ian Evans to serve in the Ipsley Team ,Redditch
• Laura Handy to serve in the Droitwich team
• Philippa Sargent to serve in Kempsey
• Andrew Todd toserve at St. Stephen’s Church, Barbourne
Ordained priest:
• Sarah Cottrill, who serves at St.John in Bedwardine, Worcester
• Gary Crellin, who serves in Stoke Prior, Wychbold and Upton Warren
• Sarah Brush, who serves in the HalasTeam in Halesowen
• Owen Gallacher, who serves at All Saints in Worcester
• Emma Goldby,who serves at HolyTrinity, Malvern and St.James,West Malvern
