Last month, 50 people received a special certificate from Bishop John marking the completion of a course designed to help them relate their Christian faith to their own life and locality.
The groups took the Bishop’s Certificate course over 12 months with the support of local tutors. It covered subjects such as Christian faith and the Creeds, the Old and New Testaments, Pentecost and the Holy Spirit, discipleship and living as Christians with people of other faiths. Groups receiving the certificate this year came from Bewdley, Brierley Hill, Droitwich, Evesham and one group drawn from parishes across the Black Country. This group was led by Reader, Kath Davis, who said:
“We always get such lovely feedback from the Bishop’s Certificate course – it gives people confidence to do things they might not have considered before and read the bible with greater insight. The course gives people a really good grounding in the Christian faith, enabling them to connect the New Testament with the often lesser known Old Testament and apply it to their everyday life.”
There are a number of new Bishop’s Certificate courses starting across the Diocese. If you are interested in attending one, please contact training@cofe-worcester.org.uk
Please pray for all those who completed the course over the past year and received their certificate, for those who are just starting and for all the tutors.
