Becoming an Eco Church

Climate change is an important
topic worldwide and many of our
churches are subsequently working
towards becoming more ecofriendly in their everyday practices.

Pershore Abbey and the parish
of Hanley Castle with Hanley
Swan aim to eliminate the use
of harmful, plastic oasis in their
flower arranging, instead using
old-fashioned methods, such as chicken wire, string and offcuts from hedge
pruning to stabilise their arrangements. Hanley Castle with Hanley Swan have also
installed hedgehog boxes and created wild areas in their churchyard.

In Kidderminster, St Cassian’s Chaddesley Corbett have installed LED lighting, which
will significantly reduce their electricity bills and thereby, their carbon footprint. They
have recently achieved the Silver Level Eco Church Award, following their adoption
of environmentally-friendly habits.

What changes could your church make to become more environmentally-friendly?

Please pray for the
continued worldwide efforts
to take up more ecofriendly practices at home,
work, church, school and
everywhere in between.
