Stewardship is at the heart of discipleship because everything we are and everything we
have comes from God. In His generosity, he not only entrusts us with the enjoyment
and care of His creation, he even invites us to be part of the ongoing work of creation
through the work of kingdom building. He commands us to love God with all our heart,
soul and mind and each other as ourselves. The work of stewardship is the work of
daily remembering to offer everything back to God and then making all our choices and
decisions accordingly.
Pray that God will grant us all the ease of generous hearts, making us ready to respond
to the promptings of His Spirit. Give thanks for the generosity of all whose offering of
time, talents and money enable the work of the kingdom in this diocese and beyond.
Remember those who face financial debt that feels beyond their control and churches
that face levels of expenditure beyond their income, praying that God will bring hope,
help and resolution of their difficulties.
Jesus held nothing back and the
work of learning to do the same
is our journey of pilgrimage
through life. At this time of All
Saints, we give thanks for the
love of those who have gone
before us and whose generosity
has shaped our lives and pray
that we may be formed into the
generous kingdom people that
will make us wonderful stewards
of God’s creation.
