Pentecost Sunday marks the end of ten days of prayer across the UK
and beyond led by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York. The Thy
Kingdom Come prayer movement invites Christians throughout the
world to pledge to pray for more people to come to faith from Easter
Day to Pentecost.
Parishes have been taking up this challenge with a wide range of ecumenical prayer
initiatives, culminating in diocesan events being held in Dudley and Worcester Today.
Praying for Dudley:
Amid the ruins of Dudley Priory, Christians from all denominations
will be gathering to pray for the Borough of Dudley. If the weather
allows, the afternoon will start with a picnic before the event
and from 2.30 pm there will be a dedicated time of worship and
prayer. A number of faith leaders will share their own testimonies and there will be an
opportunity to pray for different groups of people who live and work in the Borough.
Alive: Worcestershire:
Families in Worcestershire are getting their own event this year with
a worship concert at Worcester Arena! Alive: Worcestershire is a fun,
high energy concert taking place from 3-5 pm this afternoon. It will
be led by iSingPop and Shell Perris with a special guest appearance
from Rob Parsons.
Thy Kingdom Come in Worcester:
Following the Alive concert, Christians from across Worcestershire will be
gathering at Worcester Arena from 7.30 pm to praise God and pray for more
people to come to faith. All are welcome to come along to worship together
and to hear guest speaker, evangelist Canon J John. We hope the arena will
be packed out with all those who love God, whatever their denomination!
Pray for all the events, large and small taking place for Pentecost Sunday today – that more people will hear the Good News and come to faith as a result!
