Queen’s birthday celebrations

Many churches have been celebrating HM The
Queen’s 90th birthday this year – either on her
actual birthday in April or her official birthday
this weekend.

All Saints’ Church in Sedgley has planned an
exhibition called ‘Sedgley’s E II R 90’, taking
place at the church across this weekend.

It features accounts by members of the public
about a personal experience, or a significant
event in the parish of Gornal and Sedgley in the
past 90 years.

Where possible, stories are matched with events
in Her Majesty’s life. They are arranged decade
by decade in chronological order, and floral arrangements have been put together to
mark each decade. Also featured will be copies of articles marking significant events in
the village from the Dudley Herald newspaper.

The exhibition follows a successful show organised to mark the Queen’s Diamond
Jubilee in 2012, when 60 stories were gathered. All stories will be deposited at Dudley
Archives, who are the church’s official partners for the exhibition.

The exhibition was launched on Friday, with singing by choirs from local primary schools.

Pray for those involved in the exhibition in Sedgley and for all those hosting birthday
celebrations in honour of HM The Queen this weekend as well for Her Majesty herself
as she marks this milestone in her life.
