Parish Giving Scheme

We start the launch of the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) in February. This highly acclaimed scheme is now used by more than half the dioceses of the Church of England to handle the regular bank giving of church members. The scheme offers donors a highly efficient, friendly service and ensures that their chosen church not only promptly receives the whole of their donation but also the gift aid on their gift. This reduces the workload of church treasurers.

A unique feature of the system allows donors to increase their giving each year in line with inflation. Churches are thereby assured of a regular, tax-efficient source of income, which has the capacity to increase with the cost of living and involves virtually no administration.

The aim is to support the Church today and help secure its future for generations to come. Talking about the scheme Bishop John said:
“Introducing the Parish Giving Scheme in the Diocese of Worcester gives us a great opportunity to consider not only how we give financially but also why we give and how much we give. The experience of others makes clear that, with the right encouragement, this could be the best opportunity for a generation to review what it means to live as financially generous disciples, an opportunity that has the potential transform our efforts to become Kingdom People and play our full part in God’s mission by putting the church on a more financially stable footing. I wholeheartedly commend the Parish Giving Scheme to every parish and to every individual.

”Please pray for the new Parish Giving Scheme, that it encourages people to continue to give generously, in support of the Church and its sustainability.
