The Coach House Arts and Crafts
Community Centre at St Mary’s,
Old Swinford was developed as a
restoration project from the old
rectory coach house and this year
will celebrate the 20th Anniversary
of its opening by Archbishop George
Carey in October 1995.
It was established as a centre for
people of all abilities to develop their artistic and academic skills in a safe and peaceful
environment. From the beginning the Coach House has nurtured people with special
needs, in particular adults with learning difficulties and people living with forms of
autism. It has also been a centre which supports small art and craft groups which
operate within the locality.
NO LIMITS is one of the organisations which uses the Coach House. The charity works
with and for young people with Asperger Syndrome/Able Autism who live in the Dudley
Borough. The majority of its members have been bullied at school, have been told they
are useless or idle and understandably prefer to live in isolation. They do not want to be
loners but do not want to risk rejection or failure.
NO LIMITS runs small groups and aims to build self-confidence and self-esteem,
promote independence, maximise potential, and gain social inclusion by engaging in
activities in the community which all of us take for granted.
A party in being planned to celebrate the anniversary of the Coach House and the work
of all the organisations which use the venue.
Please pray for all those involved in the Coach House and for those who benefit from
the organisations who are able to run activities there.
