At the beginning of September, Margaret James started
as the new Director of Education for the Diocese of
Worcester, supporting both Church and community
schools across Worcestershire and Dudley. Margaret
replaced Ann Mundy who retired as Director at the end
of August.
Margaret has been working as SIAMS (Statutory
Inspection of Anglican & Methodist Schools) and
Training Manager for the Diocese of Worcester for the
past four years, supporting schools with their inspections and training teachers, heads,
governors and clergy. She was also SIAMS Manager for the Diocese of Gloucester and
a consultant for the National Society and Education Office for the Church of England,
helping with the initial training of new inspectors and quality assurance.
Margaret said: “I have a real passion for Church Schools and everything they stand
for. The prospect of being more involved with them, particularly in Worcestershire and
Dudley, was an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up! It definitely felt as if God was calling
me to this post. I’m looking forward to being able to lead a great team in the diocesan
office as we fulfil our vision to enable Church Schools to help children flourish as unique
individuals in the image of God.”
Margaret lives in the village of Aust, just outside Bristol with her family, including
four children aged between 18 and 24. She is currently studying for a Doctorate in
Education, Christianity and Faith, focusing on the impact the SIAMs process has on
church school leaders. In her spare time Margaret enjoys attending the theatre with
her husband
Please pray for Margaret as she starts her new role, as well as the whole of the
diocesan education team.
