Effectively resourcing ministry

As we continue to address the shortfall in our diocesan finances, we are embarking
on a review of how ministry is provided across the diocese, giving everyone the
chance to be involved in shaping the future of our church.

Diocesan Secretary, John Preston says: “Our greatest desire is to see more people
come to a living faith in Jesus and for the church to grow as a result. We need
to work out the best way to encourage that going forward, using the talents of
those who are paid a stipend to minister in parishes and those who find their
calling in voluntary roles. Our diocese is very diverse and therefore appropriate
approaches to ministry will look and feel different in different areas – which we
want to celebrate and support. We also to meet
the costs of ministry through the contribution of
parish share.”

A number of conversations throughout the
diocese took place earlier in the year to help
shape how we move forward together. As we
begin to start implementing these ideas, pray
that we can be a Church which is ready to face
the challenges of the future.

Pray for all those who minister
across our diocese. That
they may feel supported and
sustained in their faith, able
to help more people know
the love of God.
