At this time of year, the Christingle initiative
(celebrating its 50th birthday) takes place in
thousands of churches and schools across the
country. Funds raised are donated to the Children’s
Society, who use them to support vulnerable
children and young people who are experiencing various complex issues. Christingle
celebrations offer a delightful opportunity for whole communities to share in the
Christian story together.
In preparation for the coming of the Christ-child, Great Malvern Priory will hold
Christingle services this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon, thereby giving more people
the opportunity to experience the wonder of Christingle. In 2017, the Priory welcomed
upward of 900 children and adults to each service.
Children are encouraged to visit the Priory to assist with the assembly of the
Christingles which will be used and distributed during the worship. The services are very
child-focused and led in the traditional style, with an address exploring the symbolism
and context of Christingle.
Please pray for all those
involved in the preparation
of Christingle services,
those who attend and all
those who The Children’s
Society seek to support.
