Today people from churches across Stourport
deanery will come together for fun, food and
fellowship – an event to celebrate and affirm
the wide variety of lay ministries that take
place within our parishes.
During the afternoon people will have
chance to enjoy each other’s company over
a cup of tea and piece of cake, or listen to
music provided by one of the church music
groups. The local hand bell group went down
a treat last year and will be back again this
year. There will be games to play (the giant
Connect4 will make a return) as well as
displays and resources for people to explore.
Each year the way we celebrate and affirm the wide variety of lay ministries changes.
This year we have the privilege of experiencing for ourselves the different types of
outreach taking place to children and families, such as Open the Book and Messy
Church. There will be Bible reading, singing, prayer and activities.
Deanery Mission Developer, Victoria Day, said: “People seem to really value the
opportunity to get together with people they don’t see on a regular basis as well as a
chance to make new friends. The event provides a space for fellowship, gives thanks to
God for the gifts of His people and reminds us that together we are the Body of Christ”
Please pray for all those involved in lay ministry – both formal and informal
