Cathedral Iona Pilgrimage in May

From Saturday 6 May for a week, around 30 members of the Cathedral congregation
will be taking part in a pilgrimage to the Scottish island of Iona.

One element of the Cathedral’s strategic plan was to organise a pattern of retreats for
its community and when retired priest John Everest approached the Dean with the idea
of organising a visit to Iona, it seemed to be a perfect fit.

John has led retreats to Iona before and will jointly lead this week with the Dean, Peter
Atkinson, who will be giving a number of reflective addresses.

Peter said: “This seemed like a very good way to take a group from the Cathedral away
for a time of fellowship, recreation, travel and enjoyment. We’re hoping the week will be
spiritually encouraging for all who are coming along and that for each individual there
will be a deepening of faith, prayer and a sense of connection with the early history of
the Christian faith in the British Isles. It’s also a great way to help different people in our
congregation to get to know each other better, strengthening the sense of community
in the Cathedral.”

Please pray for all those who are taking part in the Cathedral pilgrimage.
