Calling Young Disciples is a project to help parishes
better connect with children and young people
arising out of the Kingdom People vision. During research for Kingdom People, churches
consistently maintained a need for help and support in this area of ministry and Calling
Young Disciples is putting a team in place to enable this to happen.
The Revd Ruth Walker became Director of our Calling Young Disciples
project in November. In this new role she will help recruit and support
a team of ‘Mission Enablers’, who will work with parishes across the
Diocese of Worcester to build on the work many are already doing
with children and young people.
Ruth said: “Over the course of my ministry, I have increasingly focussed on working
with schools and families. There is a real joy in seeing children and young people come
to and grow in faith and I’m a firm believer that this is where we need to be putting
our energies if we want our church to thrive in the future. It’s exciting to be at the
start of this new project, to be able to help shape and grow the vision which has been
embraced by the Diocese and see where it leads!”
Over the next few years, up to ten Mission Enablers will be recruited to be deployed in
parishes. They will work with each parish for around a year, helping them to develop
and strengthen their ministry with the children and young people in their communities.
Please pray for the Calling Young
Disciples project as more team members
are recruited and it begins to take shape.
