Café Chad

Café Chad was founded in May 2012 at St Chad’s Church, Kidderminster. It is a not-for-profit service which provides a community meeting place in a welcoming café setting, where people from the local area are able to meet and to purchase a range of good quality, affordable food and Fairtrade drinks, whilst finding friendship and support.

The café is open from 9.15am – 12.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, every week of the year, including public holidays. It is run entirely by volunteers and the cakes are made and donated by volunteer cake-makers, on a rota basis.

Café Chad is not just about a cup of coffee; it aims to provide a safe environment where people of all ages feel welcomed and valued and are able make friends and maintain those friendships. Toddler toys, books and magazines are always available, together with Wi-Fi.

Once a month a Craft Club is hosted where all can learn a new skill and have help with projects, including photography and IT help.

The Café also provides work ‘tasters’ for people with a disability. This helps to increase confidence and self-esteem and provides an understanding, in a safe environment, of real work.

The café raises money for local and national charities, either by donating funds from sales or by holding ‘Specials’ where local people are encouraged to display and sell their crafts. This has raised about £1,500 for charities in the last few years.

Please pray for all those involved at Café Chad in Kidderminster and all those who use it regularly.
