A link with Morogoro

Over the past two years St Mary’s Kempsey and St Denys’, Severn Stoke, have been
developing a friendship link with Chamwino parish in Morogoro. Vicar of Kempsey, Mark
Badger, tells us about the partnership:

Chamwino Parish has four congregations, St Paul’s Church, Chamwino and St Stephen’s
Church, Mafiga and two smaller congregations at St Peter’s Church, Kasanga and St
Philip’s, Mafulu. Lead by the Revd Capt Enock Chibada, the parish is engaged in a great
deal of community and missionary activity. St Paul’s is engaged in the building of a
new nursery and primary school and Kempsey Church and Worcester Rotary Club were
delighted to sponsor the building and equipping of the first classroom.

The increasing number of those engaging with the Church has facilitated the growth
in community education programmes in areas such as health and environmental
protection. The congregations are striving to provide better church and community
facilities across the parish with new churches in Mafiga & Kasanga and another new
school at Mafulu.

In late 2015 two members of our congregation vistied Morogoro and received a
wonderfully warm welcome from Enock and the people of Chamwino parish. In June
we welcomed Enock to Kempsey and he took part in both the Ordination Service in the
Cathedral and Philippa Sargent’s first celebration of the Eucharist at St Mary’s Kempsey!

Please pray that the bonds of friendship & fellowship will continue to grow, for all in
Chamwino parish and for more parish links with the people of the Diocese of Morogoro.
